Story/ Summary
Kesari Chapter 2 follows the legacy of bravery set by Kesari (2019), moving beyond the historic Battle of Saragarhi to depict another untold chapter of Indian resilience during British colonial rule. Based on the book The Case That Shook the Empire by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat, the film dives into the real-life courtroom drama of Barrister Pherozeshah Mehta and Bhagat Lakshman N. Murthy, who take on a powerful legal battle that exposes British atrocities and challenges the colonial legal system.
Set in the early 1920s, the story focuses on a high-stakes court case triggered by the wrongful arrest and torture of an innocent Indian freedom fighter by British officers. Akshay Kumar plays a fearless lawyer and former soldier who joins hands with a revolutionary (R. Madhavan) to fight for justice in a colonial court system designed to suppress Indian voices.
As the case unfolds, it becomes a symbol of national awakening. The courtroom becomes a battleground not of swords and bullets, but of truth, courage, and unshakeable belief in India’s right to freedom. The film beautifully captures the tension between legal oppression and rising resistance, with emotional subplots involving family sacrifice, betrayal, and hope.
Parallel to the courtroom drama, Ananya Panday’s character represents the emerging voice of modern Indian women, participating in the movement with journalism and activism.
Narrated by Vicky Kaushal, the film connects past and present, reminding audiences of the power of the law when used by fearless patriots.
